COG Fellowship Events Grantee Follow-up

One of our biggest desires is to help facilitate face-to-face connection between brethren from across the Church of God. The COG Fellowship Events program awards micro-grants to individuals and Church congregations to help sponsor fellowship events that are open to brethren from all Church of God organizations.

Back in March, CGN awarded a COG Fellowship Events grant to Leah Keim! We wanted to follow-up with Leah and her team to see how things went. We were excited to hear how well attended it was and how many different COG organizations were represented.

Leah and the team hosted an informational/fellowship event for the local community on Sunday, April 3rd at Papa Bear’s Italian Restaurant in Canton, Ohio. The goals of the event were to:

1) Provide a community for people who have started keeping the holy days and Sabbath.

2) To reach out to people within mainstream Christianity who are interested in learning more about what the Sabbath and Holy Days are.

The event was also open for all COG organizations to attend. During the event, Micah Gunn gave a presentation focusing on describing God’s holy day plan, the future events it foreshadows, and using scripture to show how Jesus and the early church kept these holy days. Later, Amanda Miller presented on tradition versus scripture where she explored the history of the traditions kept by mainstream Christianity and showed how they are a collection of pagan derivatives not supported by Jesus or the apostles.

From Leah & the team:

The event was attended by about fifty people, eight of which were currently not associated with any Sabbath keeping group. Four Sabbath keeping groups were represented: United Church of God, CGI, Star of the East, and Torah Discipleship. Overall, it was an enjoyable night with plenty of food and fellowship.

Thank you to Leah and all involved for helping build community within the Church of God in such a creative way. They plan on having more of these events in the coming months, so stay tuned! If you are a COG congregation in the Canton, Ohio area that is interested in helping Leah and her team put on future events like these, or are just interested in learning more about the events, contact us and we will put you in touch with Leah.
