Grantee Update: Francisco Solorzano
Check out the encouraging update from Francisco Solorzano (one of our previous COG Development Program grantees)!
Francisco is a member of the United Church of God in Guatemala who decided to start a volunteer program to teach English as a second language to young people in local COG congregations in his country. He used his grant funds to cover the creation and preparation of audiovisual materials, (including videos and interactive presentations) as well as to cover internet service and other operational expenses necessary for the running of the classes.
Below is an update we received from Francisco just before the Feast of Tabernacles:
I just want to let you know that we have finished this year´s English classes, which left me satisfied with the progress of my students.
So, it is time for making new plans. This year, my students will have the opportunity to practice their English with our visitors at the Feast of Tabernacles.in Guatemala. Two families from Indiana and Georgia will come down to Guatemala to celebrate the FOT at the village of Panajachel surrounding the Atitlan Lake. The group is composed by 6 adults and 5 kids and youth.
This year, I will be serving as coordinator for the group of interpreters of the messages during the Feast. So it will be a great chance to include some of my students in the interpreter´s Staff. At the same time, some other youths may be motivated to be part of my group.
