Another COG Member Faces Religious Discrimination
We’re sharing another religious discrimination case involving a fellow sister in Christ—this time a member of the United Church of God who was reportedly fired after refusing to work on the Sabbath.
According to the complaint, she had requested Saturdays off for religious reasons during her initial interview, and that request was honored for several months before she was later required to work on Saturdays. After proposing accommodations and refusing to accept a lower-paying position that would have removed her from her role, she was fired.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is now suing the Chick-fil-A franchisee involved, alleging religious discrimination.
We’ve recently shared about other members in the Church of God facing similar workplace challenges related to the Sabbath and Holy Days, and it’s sobering to see these situations continue.
Please keep her in your prayers—and pray for all brethren currently navigating religious accommodation issues in the workplace.
