Year 6 COG Development Program Highlights
This month marks the 6th anniversary of CGN’s COG Development Program! Launched to help members in developing countries start businesses or further their education, the Development Program provides micro-grants that allow recipients to purchase equipment, pay for educational expenses, or cover training costs. We work through the local ministry to identify and vet qualified applicants.
Here are some of the 2025 grantees who used COG Development funding to build brighter futures:
Alice Nyamasoka – Fast Food Business Founder
Alice, a member of the United Church of God in Zimbabwe, received a grant in early 2025 to start a fast food business, creating both income for her family and opportunities to support her local Church community in Zimbabwe.
Douglas Kachilima – Agricultural Entrepreneur
In November 2025, Douglas received a Development Program grant to cultivate a hectare of corn. His project covers land preparation, seeds, fertilizers, and other inputs to build a sustainable farming enterprise and strengthen food security for his household and community.
Francis Jackson – Mobile Phone Repair Technician
In July 2025, Francis Jackson from Ghana (COGWA) used his grant to establish his own phone repair shop, with plans to expand into additional services. His business allows him to work independently while faithfully observing the Sabbath.
Anonymous – A/C Specialist
In August 2025 the program awarded a grant to a trained air conditioning specialist (who chose to remain anonymous). This grantee is launching a local A/C business and plans to train other brethren so they can earn income while observing Sabbath and Feast Days.
Grantee Progress Report
James Luwanja – Irrigation Farming Expansion
James, from Malawi and attending with the Living Church of God, has been using his grant to purchase irrigation equipment including a water pump. This has increased his rice and sweet potato production and provided wages and opportunities for neighbors. James’ story shows the ripple effect of empowering one brother to bless many.
Looking Ahead
Each of these stories represents more than a business or project — they represent hope, sustainability, and resilience rooted in faith and community. The COG Development Program is grateful for every donor, supporter, and applicant who helped make this year possible.
Thank you for being part of this mission — one life, one opportunity, one grant at a time.
