Grantee update: Francisco Solórzano

In April of this year, we awarded a COG Development grant to Mr. Francisco Solórzano in Guatemala.

Below is an updated Mr. Solórzano provided on the progress of his students!

I just want to inform you about our English students’ progress in Central America. At this moment I do have seven students in three categories: 3 beginners, 2 intermediate and 2 advanced. All of them are from Guatemala, except one from El Salvador.

One student is a beginner student and is a law student at the University in Guatemala. He attends Services in Guatemala City. This student’s sister is also a law student and both of them are interested in learning English.

In this level I am focusing on fundamental areas, such as: basic vocabulary, learning common words and practicing the sounds of English to be understood when listening, understanding sentence structures and basic grammar rules. They are learning step by step, reading aloud, writing short paragraphs and answering questions. Right now they are able to speak in present and in past tense.
