Meet the Newest CGN Grantee: Maxwell Acquah

Church of God Network is excited to recognize the latest recipient of a COG Development Program grant: Maxwell Acquah of Ghana, a member of the United Church of God.

Maxwell recently completed training in leatherwork and is preparing to establish his own shop, where he will produce and repair leather goods. For Maxwell, starting his own business is about more than earning a reliable income—it will also give him the independence to earn a living without being required to work on the Sabbath.

The grant from CGN’s COG Development Program will help Maxwell purchase the equipment and inventory needed to get his business up and running. He has already completed his training and developed skills in cutting, stitching, polishing, repairing, and designing leather products, including bags, belts, shoes, and wallets.

Maxwell has outlined a straightforward plan to launch the business, beginning with preparing his shop and purchasing and arranging the necessary supplies, followed by advertising and opening for business. Looking ahead, he plans to sustain the business through regular savings and by investing in quality tools and materials that will last.

A particularly encouraging part of Maxwell’s vision is his desire to use the business to create opportunities for others. His long-term goal is to employ young people from his local Church of God congregation who are interested in learning and working in the trade.

We are grateful to partner with entrepreneurs like Maxwell who are using their skills to build sustainable livelihoods while creating opportunities to serve others in the Church of God community.

Congratulations, Maxwell! We look forward to watching your business grow and seeing where this opportunity leads.
