In times of crisis, the strength of a community is revealed. The Church of God has always been more than just a collection of congregations—it is a family, bound together by faith, love, and a shared commitment to serve one another. When our brethren face hardship, whether from natural disasters, financial struggles, or personal trials, we have an incredible opportunity to embody Christ’s love through tangible action.

Now, more than ever, it is crucial for us to come together in unity and support those in need. The challenges of today’s world are vast, but so is the potential of the Church of God when we work as one. Imagine what we can accomplish when we pool our resources, coordinate efforts, and uplift our brethren through collective action!

We recently witnessed the incredible power of cooperation through our Within Your Gates program, which was activated to assist those affected by the devastating California wildfires. Ten different Church of God organizations came together to donate to this cause, demonstrating a profound commitment to supporting brethren in crisis. In addition, a small working group, consisting of representatives from Church of God Network and four other Church of God organizations, collaborated to ensure that aid was effectively distributed.

Through these efforts, we raised over $127,000 and have already been able to assist 21 brethren impacted by the fires. But our work is not done. We recognize that recovery takes time, and we remain committed to supporting our brethren as long-term needs arise in the aftermath of these wildfires. To further assist, we have also created a “CA Wildfire Resources” page, offering crucial information and guidance for those navigating this difficult period.

This is exactly what we envisioned when the Within Your Gates program was founded—a program within a neutral organization that can galvanize the Church of God’s resources and efforts to respond to urgent needs and emergencies affecting brethren. While we hope and pray that such disasters are few and far between, we also acknowledge that they will occur. But when they do, we can be ready to serve!

It is our prayer that Within Your Gates becomes a program through which EVERYONE in the Church of God is aware when brethren are in crisis and that we respond together as one body. By breaking down barriers and standing united, we can ensure that no one faces hardship alone.

The future of this cooperative effort is bright! With continued dedication, we can build an even stronger network of support—one that is proactive, effective, and rooted in the love of Christ. Let’s commit to being a Church community that not only speaks of love but actively demonstrates it. Together, we can make a profound impact and show the world what it truly means to be the body of Christ.
