In Loving Memory of Richard Ames

The Church of God lost another pillar and servant last week. Mr. Richard Ames, of the Living Church of God passed away on July 4th, 2024. He was 88 years old.

Mr. Ames dedicated his life to the Ministry of Christ and serving the brethren. He will be greatly missed by many. He played a significant role in leadership of both the Worldwide Church of God and Living Church of God functioning as an evangelist in both organizations. Please pray for his family and the Living Church of God brethren as they deal with this loss.

Here is a brief personal tribute from Church of God Network board member, Tim Reynolds, who knew Mr. Ames personally:

My earliest memories of Mr. Ames are of watching him as a presenter on the World Tomorrow program when I was a boy in the early ‘90s. Since then, I’ve had the chance to meet him and his wife Kathryn on several occasions throughout my life. One of those times, he was staying with us at my parents’ house for a Holy Day visit while my dad was a pastor for LCG in Louisiana. We got the chance to talk quite a bit, and he shared some advice for me to have success in college, including the “5-Minute Rule” to avoid procrastination. He and his wife were consistently very personable and kind. More recently, I’ve mostly seen him still presenting on the Tomorrow’s World program, decades later. Aside from his wife, it was obvious that The Work and preaching the gospel were his greatest passions, which he did up to the point that his health prevented him.
