
Introducing our Newest Director: Jean Marie De Veaux
Please join us in welcoming the newest Board of Directors member: Jean Marie De Veaux! She’s a wonderful person with a passionate love for God’s people and His way of life. We are thrilled to have her aboard!
About Jean Marie:
Jean Marie (Borden) De Veaux was born in Buffalo, New York, the youngest of three daughters. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Daemen University (Amherst, NY) in 1971. She moved to New York City in June 1971 and received a Master of Arts Degree in Education from Teachers/College Columbia University in 1973. Jean Marie was employed as a Teacher/Educator from 1971 to 2014 teaching English, Reading, Writing, Speaking and Life skills to students in Elementary School through College. She also spent 32 years educating youth in Foster Care in N.Y. City. She has been happily retired since November 2014.
Jean Marie became a member of the Worldwide Church of God (WCG) in N.Y. City (Manhattan Congregation) in 1976. In June 1991, she married the late Stanley Eugene De Veaux (an Assistant Pastor in Worldwide Church of God since 1968). Stan established the “Agape Church of the Savior” in 2001 after his dismissal from WCG. Although Stanley passed away in November 2019, “Agape” still exists today in Westbury, (Long Island) New York as a small-group Church with Mr. Thomas Oakley as Pastor.
Jean Marie currently serves as Administrative Assistant to Pastor, Mr. Oakley and works with her “Agape” members to assist other senior citizens in need, to encourage young people in life-planning skills, and to help individuals who are ill. She provides free transportation services weekly for senior citizens and people who are disabled and has a deep passion for music, culture and the performing arts. She frequently attend Arts events in New York City during the year. In addition to serving on the Church of God Network board, Jean Marie serves on the Board of Directors at the Bloomingdale School of Music in Manhattan (since 1995) where she participates on the Programming, Events, Scholarships and Fundraising Committees.
